Start an Isla Mujeres plan with the journey back. Decide whether you are visiting for a day or staying overnight, identify the terminal and operator for both crossings, and only then add activities. A ferry ride, an island tour and a mainland yacht charter are different bookings even when they appear in the same Cancun vacation search.

Choose the correct ferry route and terminal

Ultramar’s route information distinguishes Isla Mujeres departures from Puerto Juárez and Cancun hotel-zone terminals from the separate Playa del Carmen–Cozumel route. Check the terminal and departures for your date rather than assuming every ferry counter serves the same island.

Add the road journey to the terminal, the operator’s boarding allowance and onward travel after arrival. An advertised crossing duration is not your hotel-to-activity travel time. Confirm luggage and boarding arrangements with the carrier when bringing equipment or travelling with children.

Choose one main island activity

A beach-focused visit and a trip toward the southern end of the island have different transport needs. Choose according to your group’s pace rather than trying to see every place before the next ferry.

For Playa Norte, decide which facilities you need and ask the selected venue about loungers, shade, food and access charges. For Punta Sur, confirm current entry and the actual walking route. Neither stop comes with a guarantee of empty paths, calm seas or unrestricted access to every viewpoint.

Ask whether the tour meets on Isla Mujeres or in Cancun, and whether it is snorkeling, diving or a glass-bottom boat experience.
