1) Know where your yacht rental is departing from.
Pristine beaches, crystal clear waters, and Mayan Ruins make Tulum a destination in and of itself. Here you’ll find small and mid-sized boats for a quick tour out to sea, but if you want something a bit more upscale, we’ve got you covered. All H2OH yacht experiences depart from the Puerto Aventuras Marina, just ~45 minutes north of Tulum. If you’re renting a car, google maps is your best friend!
*note: There is no marina in Tulum. All boats, yachts, and catamarans depart from Puerto Aventuras.
2) Does the yacht rental company own it’s vessels?
All yacht companies will rave about their services, but not all own their boats and this can lead you into a grey area where you may not receive what you paid for. If a company owns their yacht charters, this usually guarantees a great experience. Why?
A) If a company own’s their vessels, you’ll likely get a better deal and great customer service.
B) When dealing directly, there’s less room for miscommunication.
Other agents may make high promises, or misrepresent the quality of their services, and you find out when it’s too late.This is why it’s important to deal directly with the yacht rental company! H2OH owns our yachts and we offer direct booking via phone or live chat through our website.
3) Be sure you are renting from a legitimate company
We don’t recommend renting a yacht without proper permissions or insurance coverage. It’s also a good idea to pay any deposit or payments securely. Always check reviews, too! This is always the first indicator and easiest to finding out whether a company performs as well as they sell it to you.
