A private yacht and a resort venue solve different event-planning problems. The right choice depends on who is attending, how the event needs to run and the complete cost. A yacht is not automatically more private, less expensive or easier for every group; a resort may also offer a private room or dedicated event area.
For an H2OH yacht event during a Playa del Carmen stay, guests travel to Puerto Aventuras Marina. Include that journey in the comparison rather than treating the hotel and yacht as neighboring venues.

When a yacht may fit
A private charter can suit a group that wants to spend a defined part of the day together, with the boat journey as part of the celebration. Music, an onboard meal and a route-specific water activity can be combined when the selected charter provides them.
Start with the Playa del Carmen charter planning page, then compare the yacht’s capacity and layout. Passenger capacity does not establish the number of people who can sit in a particular dinner or ceremony arrangement.
Keep expectations realistic: private use of the yacht is not exclusive use of the sea, reef or anchorage. The captain controls navigation and suitable activities. A confirmed charter still has departure and return times.
When a resort event may fit
A land-based venue may work better when guests must come and go, when some people do not want a boat outing or when the event requires a particular seated service or access arrangement. Ask the resort about outside-guest admission, private-space terms, suppliers and any extra charges rather than assuming everything is covered by a hotel stay.
A yacht outing can also be a separate welcome event or day-after gathering instead of replacing the main reception. Use the wedding planning page to discuss that distinct role, rather than trying to fit every wedding activity into a short cruise.
Compare complete totals for the same people
For the yacht, include the selected charter, additional passengers, marina fees, transportation, chosen extras and payment charges. For the resort, request the venue charge, meal and drink package, outside-guest charges, service fees and accepted supplier costs. Do not compare a yacht’s full-group price with one person’s meal price.
Regular all-inclusive H2OH charters include meals and a standard open bar. Family and Custom Series options differ. Review celebration and entertainment extras separately, including vendor access and route restrictions.
Check the schedule before collecting contributions
Use every guest’s actual accommodation address for transport planning. Add both transfers and the required early marina arrival to the time aboard. Avoid a plan that depends on every guest reaching the yacht at the last minute.
Prepare the yacht estimate and compare it with the named resort offer. Choose the option that meets your essential requirements, or assign each a different place in the weekend. An estimate does not reserve a yacht, and an attractive comparison is not a confirmed event contract.
