Puerto Escondido offers beach time, surfing culture and locally operated nature excursions on Oaxaca’s Pacific coast. Choose activities according to the group’s experience and the conditions, then leave enough time to enjoy the town itself.
The official Oaxaca destination guide identifies Zicatela with surfing. Watching from shore is a different activity from entering the water. If you want a lesson, tell the instructor your experience and let them select an appropriate place and conditions.
Do not assume a famous surf beach is a beginner swimming area. Follow flags and local instructions and choose another activity when conditions do not suit the group.
Oaxaca’s coastal route guide identifies Manialtepec Lagoon as an outing for its natural setting. Ask a local provider about the actual route, boat or paddling format, guide, equipment and transfer arrangements.
